A concrete affordable equipment checklist for learning the sword-and-shield system. Quality 30 is a consistent preparation target selected for this plan, not a claim that every opponent becomes safe at that quality.

How to use this setup
- Equip the long sword in the right hand and medium wooden shield on the left arm.
- Wear the jacket, pants, cap, both gloves, both boots and both sleeves; inspect damage and repair before departure.
- Select Normal fighting and Autofight for initial controlled practice.
- Target one suitable creature and remain in melee range; verify you are attacking the creature actually hitting you.
- Retreat before stamina collapses; inspect and treat wounds with First aid and cotton.
Priorities and progression
- Develop Fighting, Longsword, Medium wooden shield and Normal fighting for the selected kit.
- Improve and repair actual item QL and damage instead of treating character skills as an armour substitute.
- Body stamina affects sustained combat; no fixed combat-rating or creature-clear guarantee is asserted.
How the selected kit works
The selected long sword is one-handed, so it can coexist with an arm-mounted shield. Swapping to a two-handed weapon changes that compatibility. Leather keeps the kit’s armour family consistent and makes each missing piece visible. Wurm can leave a character targeting the wrong enemy; check the target instead of assuming the combat interface automatically switched to the creature that approached you.
