Project: Gorgon: Sword / Psychology solo build: Rage control and self-healing

Project: Gorgon: A named Sword and Psychology bar with Many Cuts, Parry, Soothe, Pep Talk and treasure-effect priorities for solo PvE.

Project: Gorgon builds the character through discovered skills and the way you use them, rather than assigning a permanent class at the start. The important first decision is a pair of combat skills you can practise together. Keep exploration and NPC relationships alongside fighting, because new services and useful knowledge do not all come from a higher combat number.

OPMetaBuildReviewed 2026-10-17Detailed configuration

This pairing attacks through Sword while Psychology manages enemy Rage and supplies recovery. The following twelve-slot arrangement uses the eight core actions from the reference plus explicitly named utility choices. Use the highest learned rank of each named ability; upgrade access and skill levels remain prerequisites, not free unlocks.

Configuration and exact selections

Sword slot 1
Sword Slash

Basic attack for Combat Refresh rather than another Power spender.

Sword slot 2
Many Cuts

Maintain sustained damage on a target that will live long enough.

Sword slot 3
Finishing Blow

A slower heavy hit for a safe attack window.

Sword slot 4
Parry

Reduce Rage and weaken an incoming attack.

Sword slot 5
Debilitating Blow

Add an offensive debuff when incoming damage is the problem.

Sword slot 6
Wind Strike

Prepare a stronger next attack rather than using an unrelated damage type.

Psychology slot 1
Mock

A second basic attack to sustain Combat Refresh opportunities.

Psychology slot 2
Strike a Nerve

Provide Psychic damage alongside the sword attacks.

Psychology slot 3
Soothe

Remove Rage before a dangerous enemy Rage action.

Psychology slot 4
Pep Talk

Keep an accessible heal rather than relying only on consumables.

Psychology slot 5
Psychoanalyze

Use a trained Psychology attack as an additional damage option.

Psychology slot 6
Positive Attitude

An additional recovery option for health, armour and Power.

Main-hand requirement
Sword

A main-hand sword is required for the selected Sword bar.

Treasure effect: head / weapon
Sword Boost

Prioritise an effect supporting the active Sword attacks.

Treasure effect: chest / feet
Sword Flat Boost

Add a compatible flat Sword bonus where the available item permits it.

How to use this setup

  1. Open with Parry if the enemy threatens an early Rage action, then Many Cuts.
  2. Use Wind Strike before a safe Finishing Blow opportunity.
  3. Fit Strike a Nerve and Psychoanalyze between Sword actions; use Soothe in response to Rage.
  4. Return to Sword Slash and Mock when Power is tight; use Pep Talk before health becomes critical.

Priorities and progression

  • Prioritise Sword damage treasure effects, then enough Power recovery to maintain the bar.
  • Keep health and armour adequate for melee; an unusable high-rank ability is not an upgrade.

Why Rage control changes the fight

Damage is not the only contribution of Parry and Soothe. Use them against the enemy’s resource rather than pressing them blindly after a fixed number of attacks. A short fight may not require both; a dangerous opponent can justify sacrificing a damage action to avoid a Rage attack.

Read the actual treasure effect

Sword and Psychology have different damage and utility modifiers. A generic heal effect for another ability category does not automatically improve Pep Talk. Inspect the named action in each item effect, retain the sword requirement, and compare the result before discarding a working piece.

Requirements and scope

Human-shaped character with both skills trained; level-100 reference, adaptable only to ranks already learned. No animal-form compatibility, full gear perfection or universal solo ranking is promised.
