Build the processing chain before upgrading the pick. The Standard tier converts the Makeshift Pick, while Fine and Exquisite consume the previous tier. Do not discard a predecessor tool or spend all refined materials without reserving repair supplies.

How to use this setup
- Reach Foraging 2 and Mining 2, learn and craft the Basic Sawmill and Basic Smelter.
- Produce the 20 Sapwood Plank and 5 Copper Bar for Standard Pick, plus a separate repair reserve.
- At Mining 3, learn Standard Pick and upgrade the existing Makeshift Pick at the Worktable.
- Repair before durability is exhausted; prepare Heartwood Plank and Iron Bar for Mining 6.
- Upgrade to Fine Pick at Mining 6, then gather the Flow-Infused Plank and Palium Bar needed at Mining 9.
Priorities and progression
- Standard/Fine/Exquisite Pick recipes require Mining 3/6/9 respectively.
- A Standard Pick plus one 20-kit repair batch uses 25 Sapwood Plank and 6 Copper Bar, excluding processing-station construction.
- Higher pick tiers improve mining access and performance; this is not a combat damage or gold-per-hour build.
Protect the material investment
Makeshift tools do not share the same durability burden as upgraded tools. Once upgraded, monitor the tool’s circular durability indicator and repair it before depletion. A fully worn upgraded tool can fall back a tier, creating another upgrade expense. The modest repair batch above is therefore part of the setup, rather than an optional purchase after the tool fails.
