EVE Online: Algos drone and railgun fit for level 1 security missions

EVE Online: A complete low-cost Algos fit: five 75mm rails, armour repair, drone amplifiers, afterburner, capacitor modules, rigs and Hobgoblin drones.

In EVE Online, your build is the ship, its modules, ammunition, drones and the pilot skills that support them.

OPMetaBuildReviewed 2026-10-17Detailed configuration

The ship fights through light drones while railguns add damage at range. This fitting deliberately uses small inexpensive modules rather than pretending a destroyer is ready for every level 2 mission. It occupies the Algos’s three mid slots, three low slots and three rig slots, with five of its six high slots used for guns.

Activity
High-security level 1 security missions
Edition / reference
Tech I Algos fitting based on the long-running rail/drone mission archetype; current hull slots checked 17 October 2026. Not a simulated performance claim.

Configuration and exact selections

Hull
Algos

Gallente drone destroyer; not the Navy Issue variant.

High slots 1–5
5 × 75mm Gatling Rail I

Low fitting pressure; drones remain the main damage plan.

High slot 6
Empty

Intentionally unused; no launcher hardpoint is assumed.

Ammunition
Iron Charge S; Antimatter Charge S in cargo

Iron for more reach; switch ammunition only after checking optimal range.

Mid slot 1
1MN Afterburner I

Maintains range without a microwarpdrive’s capacitor demands.

Mid slots 2–3
2 × Cap Recharger I

Supports the active armour-repair cycle.

Low slot 1
Small Armor Repairer I

Pulse while armour needs recovery; do not leave it running without a purpose.

Low slots 2–3
2 × Drone Damage Amplifier I

Improves the light-drone damage plan.

Rig slot 1
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Supports armour repair.

Rig slots 2–3
2 × Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

Adds capacitor recovery; no universal capacitor-stable percentage is claimed.

Drone bay
10 × Hobgoblin I

Launch five with Drones V; keep five as replacement light drones.

Skill prerequisites
Gallente Destroyer I; Drones V; CPU Management IV; Power Grid Management III

Also train each named module’s required skill; use fitting simulation before purchase.

How to use this setup

  1. Enter a level 1 mission, move away from the nearest hostile group and establish a railgun-friendly distance with the afterburner.
  2. Lock a target, launch Hobgoblin I drones and command them onto that target. Keep drone aggression on Passive to control the pull.
  3. Fire the railguns inside their actual ammunition range. Pulse Small Armor Repairer when armour falls and monitor capacitor.
  4. Recall drones that take damage. Recall the whole flight before warping out; dock and replace losses before the next mission.

Priorities and progression

  • Prioritise legal CPU/powergrid fitting and five controllable drones over a theoretical damage number.
  • Gallente Destroyer and drone support skills improve the fit; target range depends on ammunition and skills.
  • Thermal Hobgoblin damage is an explicit baseline, not the optimal damage type against every NPC faction.

Damage control starts with drone control

A drone boat can lose its main damage source without losing the hull. Watch the drone window and recall a damaged drone before replacing it. The spare flight is useful only after you recover or dock; it does not justify abandoning drones in every mission. This is a cautious high-security mission fitting, not a defence against hostile players or a capacitor simulation result.

Requirements and scope

Level 1 PvE with the listed support skills and module prerequisites. Original conservative Tech I variant; no claimed personal testing, damage benchmark or level 2 completion guarantee.
