Project: Gorgon beginner guide: skill pairs, NPCs and exploration

Build a readable Project: Gorgon skill pair, compare compatible equipment, develop NPC relationships and plan exploration without assuming a fixed class route.

Project: Gorgon builds the character through discovered skills and the way you use them, rather than assigning a permanent class at the start. The important first decision is a pair of combat skills you can practise together. Keep exploration and NPC relationships alongside fighting, because new services and useful knowledge do not all come from a higher combat number.

Choose two compatible combat skills

Read the equipment requirements and available actions of each skill before combining them. Two appealing themes may compete for the same equipment slot. Select an approach with a repeatable attack, a way to respond to pressure and a clear resource plan. Practise on an ordinary enemy before assuming a new combination can handle a dungeon that an older one completed.

Keep the active bars understandable

Put the selected skills’ actions where you can distinguish attack, recovery and control. Check the usable version when a skill level changes. Add a newly learned interaction one at a time and watch whether it actually triggers. A long bar full of unfamiliar actions can make it harder to recognise the one response that would prevent a failed fight.

Read treasure effects against the active skills

Inspect an item’s skill-level requirements and the wording of each effect. A bonus to an action you never use is not automatically worth replacing a useful defensive piece. Keep an equipment comparison tied to the two active skills. Test a replacement in a familiar encounter so a change in damage or recovery can be connected to the item you changed.

Treat NPC conversations as progression

The publisher describes NPCs with their own interests and rewards for friendship. Read conversations, available tasks and the services each character offers. Keep notes on who teaches a skill or buys the items you collect. Do not give away every unusual item before checking whether it serves a current task, training requirement or another useful purpose.

Explore with a return plan

Dungeons can include puzzles, traps and monsters with unfamiliar abilities. Carry recovery supplies, leave room in inventory and remember the route out. A quest being available does not make every destination suitable for the current skill pair. When an encounter fails, record what you learned and return after a specific improvement rather than repeatedly replacing random equipment.

A short practice exercise

Choose one NPC whose training interests you and note the skill or relationship requirement shown in the conversation. Combine that goal with one familiar exploration route. Keep useful quest items separate from ordinary loot before selling. Progress can then unlock a concrete service rather than only increasing a combat skill without a destination.

Before your next session

  • Check compatibility before selecting the two skills.
  • Know the attack, recovery and control on both bars.
  • Compare equipment effects against actions you use.
  • Record trainers and useful NPC services.
  • Bring supplies and keep the return route visible.
