Last Epoch separates character passives, mastery choices and skill specialisations. Read those systems together. A weapon upgrade can help damage, but it will not fix an incompatible conversion or a missing defensive layer. Start with a small number of mutually supporting decisions.
Your progression checklist
- Read the current tags on your specialised skill.
- Check defences before raising difficulty.
- Craft to solve a named weakness rather than for random improvement.
- Review mastery restrictions before committing.
A focused practice exercise
Open one skill specialisation and identify the nodes that alter how the ability works. Write down your intended damage type before investing further. Try the skill after a small change and check whether the result still matches that plan. Treat a conversion as a change of direction, not an automatic upgrade.
